Hawaii, Day 4

Because my body is held together with super glue and duct tape, I always need to schedule bodywork in advance when I'm traveling. This time I went to Island Family Chiropractic in Hawaii Kai for their chiropractor to put my bones back in place. My SI joint is especially squirrely, and when it is out of alignment, I get a lot of pain in the front of my right hip, and if that isn't addressed, my whole back can seize up.

After that appointment, I bought a few musubi at Paradise Poke, also in Hawaii Kai. I had a side quest of trying musubi from as many places as possible on this trip!

F and I decided to do the long east side drive up to the North Shore on this day. We made a stop at the Waiahole Poi Factory where we had some Kahlua pig on rice and a dessert of kulolo (a mix of taro root coconut milk and sugar that is steamed) and haupia flavored ice cream. Yum!!

We stopped at Sunset Beach and watched the surfers for a while.

Then had a nice slow drive up the coast through Waimea and Haleiwa, before stopping at Paalaa Kai Bakery for snow puffies! Last year was my first time having these delicious mille feuille with vanilla custard with powdered sugar and chocolate on top, and we went to my favorite beach on the North shore- Aweoweo Beach Park. It's almost always empty, right near a beautiful residential area, and it has very pretty sunsets!
