Hawaii, Day 2
On my first full day in Oahu, my friend F and I had breakfast at Moena Café, one of my favorites! We ordered lilikoi mochi pancakes and short rib loco moco and split them. One thing that I always need to think about in advance when I am traveling is where I am going to eat- because I am immunosuppressed, I do not eat indoors since the start of COVID. We take advantage of the Zippy's location in Hawaii Kai by buying some beverages there, because they are right next to Moena Café and their seating is open-air. There is a nice view across the lagoon/marina.

Next we decided we wanted some sunshine, so we drove around to Waimanalo Beach Park. If your goal is maximum beauty and minimum effort, Waimanalo should definitely be on your list. There is a very small strip of flat land between the towering Ko'olau mountains and a gorgeous massively long east side beach. There is a blue beach mat that does help with walking out onto the sand if you have mobility issues, but it is covered with enough sand to not really be helpful for a wheelchair, just a forewarning.
(descriptions of the two above photos: the first photo is looking from the beach toward the Ko'olau range, the sky is vibrant blue with fluffy white clouds, and there are palm trees standing over the soccer field in the foreground. The second photo is looking along the beach north toward Kaneohe- you can see trees to the left, a wide sandy beach, beautiful turquoise water and fluffy white clouds)
After our time in the sun, we were ready for more snacks- mac salad and chili cheese fries from Zippy's, hot malasadas (fluffy Portuguese donuts) from the Leonard's truck in Hawaii Kai.

When I am on Island, I try to see as many sunrises and sunsets as I reasonably can. We were tired after our adventure day, but F and I went down to Kuliouou Beach Park to see sunset.
